Art Mixer: May 25, 7pm – 10pm Life Drawing & Live Music…

“A Map of the Heavens” by Martha Jablonski-Jones

Our “Art Salon” event last month was so successful, we’re offering another one to celebrate  “New Altars for Old Gods”, the current exhibition of paintings by  Martha Jablonski- Jones.

Join us for an evening of live music, and life drawing, or simply to enjoy Martha’s wonder-filled work.

We’re honoured to have guest musician Peter Jack Rainbird of Courtenay, B.C. performing between 8 and 9:30pm.  Three sketching sessions are scheduled, with poses and movement provided by Yoga instructor Adrienne Wills. (During the breaks, ask Adrienne about the Yoga classes she’ll be offering this Fall at Artemis!)

Tokens for drawing boards & materials can be purchased upon arrival for $5.00 per session.

We’re delighted that Martha Jablonski-Jones will be attending the Art Mixer to discuss her work and offer her expertise to participants throughout the evening.  Her vibrant acrylic paintings in “New Altars for Old Gods” offer an exhilarated investigation into the lingering presence of the sacred in our secularized world.  The exhibition continues at Artemis until May 27th, Tuesday through Sunday, 12 to 5pm.

Fairygrams Art Salon ~ Friday April 20th, 7pm to 10pm

Join us for an evening event that celebrates creative expression in all its forms. Enjoy local art, live music, and life drawing while you meet and mingle with your creative neighbours.

Musician Justin Penney of the Vancouver band Philosoraptor will perform. Between 8 and 9:30pm, watch as artists sketch poses by life drawing model and artist Shelley Rothenburger or buy a ticket to pick up your own block of charcoal and make your mark!

This event, on the eve of the North Shore Art Crawl, is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Fairygrams by North Vancouver artist Leonid Rozenberg. Rozenberg combines traditional mediums such as oil and pastels with photographic methods in his ongoing series of mixed media prints. Creating visually captivating and carefully juxtaposed images which vibrate with tension and ambiguity, he invites the viewer to enter and explore his theatrical tableaus. The artist will be available during the Salon to discuss his work.

The second annual North Shore Art Crawl takes place on April 21 and 22; visit http://www.nsartcrawl.ca for more details. The exhibition ‘Fairygrams: Artwork by Leonid Rozenberg’ continues to April 22.
